This course will give you an overview of how new social media tools are being used in the Careers Service setting.
This course will give you an overview of how new social media tools are being used in the Careers Service setting. We will assess tools including Facebook, Blogs, Podcasting and Videocasting, Social Bookmarking. You will have the opportunity to sample live examples of these technologies by The Careers Group and other UK universities in this hands-on course. We will consider how they can used to increase our impact with students, institutions and employers.
Topics covered will include:
o Sharing your experience so far and discussion of case studies
o Opportunities, risks and pitfalls
o Effective use of your Careers 2.0 time
o How to measure impact
o What are the next developments likely to be?
This course will be useful for careers service managers and professionals who have an interest in exploring how to manage the integration of social media tools into their existing services and to evaluate their effectiveness.
Please note that course will not cover the specifics of how to use these tools. If this is something you’re interested in, you may be wish to book a course such as 101 Social Media Tools, Profiling Facebook or Blogging for Beginners.
